- Regarding church age believers, Jesus teaches us in Matthew’s Gospel, that:
- Some will be called great in the kingdom.
- Some will receive great reward.
- Some will inherit (possess) the kingdom.
- Some will be entrusted with serious responsibilities.
- Some will receive that commendation, “well done.”
- Some will participate in the banquet.
- Some will be ready when the Bridegroom comes.
- A word on trials in life:
Jesus once sent a message to a church, describing a coming tribulation. This is in Revelation 2:10. He told the believers in Smyrna, “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer.” He described an upcoming 10 day period of tribulation, that Satan would bring. The purpose: “that you may be tested.”
Let that sink in.
I just re-read in Deuteronomy, as Mo retells the story, God humbled His people.
Deuteronomy 8:2: “The Lord led you in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger…”
Israel was tested in the wilderness.
Jesus was tested in the wilderness.
We’re tested constantly in life.
He allowed His people to hunger. He humbled them. He tested them. The testing revealed whether they were fit to take the land. Taking the land of Canaan is symbolic of the inheritance of the kingdom. God allows us to go through things to determine if we’re trustworthy for responsibility in the kingdom.
Just stay strong. God is with you. He sees everything you’re going through. He’s rewarding every single moment of faithfulness. The suffering won’t last forever. And He’ll never allow on you more than you can bear.
I Corinthians 10:13: “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” - Do you sense God calling you to serve within Included in Christ? We have ministry opportunities available.
