The Lord wants you to know without a shadow of a doubt that you are saved, that you have eternal life, that you are going to heaven when you die!
When you look online for assurance, there’s usually a list that looks something like this:
- Do you love the Lord with all your heart?
- Do you hate sin?
- Have you truly changed?
- Is your life bearing fruit?
- Is your life a witness for Christ?
What a terrible thing mainstream Christianity has done to the Gospel! They make the free gift of eternal life seem utterly unattainable! The truth is exactly what John 3:16 says: Whosoever believes in Him has everlasting life.
You might say, it can’t be that easy. Surely I have to persevere in good works until my last breath to prove that I am really saved?
Actually, no.
Salvation is a free gift, for which Jesus paid the entire price. The gift that He offers is everlasting life in His kingdom. Every person under the sun has the freedom to be a citizen in Christ’s eternal kingdom. He made the way possible by living a sinless life and dying an atoning death.
90% of preachers will tell you that that salvation is “by grace through faith,” but “if you’re ‘truly saved,’ your life will show it!”
Actually, literally anyone can be in Christ’s eternal kingdom.
If you’ve believed in Jesus for the eternal life that He offers, you already have eternal life.
In John 6:47, Jesus said, “Most assuredly I say to you, He who believes in Me has eternal life.”
That life is eternal. It cannot be lost or rescinded.
So the obvious question becomes, well what if someone believed when he was a 15 year old kid and then became a mass murderer?!
God is just, and He will appropriately judge all believers’ works.
For those believers who have lived godly lives in accordance with God’s word, there are breathtaking rewards in eternity. For those believers who lived ungodly lives, turned from the faith, stayed in sin (even murder!), then Scripture says, when they’re judged at the believers’ judgment, they will “suffer loss.” They will receive no commendations, no rewards, no crowns, no invitation to the banquet, and they will have no authority in the kingdom.
Understand it like this: Jesus paid the price for sin.
Literally, the debt for every single sin was paid on Calvary.
There is no sin that will send someone to hell.
The sin problem was dealt with definitely.
The only people who will be in hell are those who declined Christ’s free offer of everlasting life.
One of the last lines in the whole Book says, Come! Anyone who is thirsty, come, whoever desires, come and drink of the water of life freely, without cost!
Jesus said, “If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto Me.”
Jesus’ offer of everlasting life is for every single person who will or has ever lived.
Do you want to know for certain that you’re saved and going to heaven when you die?
Then answer this question: Do you believe in Jesus for eternal life?
If you said yes, then Ephesians 1:13 says, when you believed, you were sealed in Him.
You have eternal life, and it can never be lost or rescinded.
GLORY to GOD!!!
And once you truly grasp this concept, it will change your world! Scripture comes alive! Your relationship with the Lord can be so sweet because you finally realize that you’re in! You’re in the family! What a relief. And then so many questions emerge:
- What about the unpardonable sin?
- What if I have a grudge, and Matthew 6:15 says, therefore I’m not forgiven?
- What about “narrow is the way, and few find it” if this is open to everyone?
- What about if you call your brother a fool, doesn’t it say you’ll go to hell?
- What I just turn from the faith and become a buddist and quit believing in Christ?
Stay with us because we study this Word verse by verse. See our series on the Gospel of John for concrete evidence of these truths from a verse by verse study of Scripture. Also, see our “what we believe” statement in the “About” section of this website for more information on what we believe.
PS:
- If you commit the unpardonable sin, it will be judged at the Bema judgment seat, but you’ll still be in His eternal kingdom.
- If you fail to forgive someone their sins, then that sin is judged at the Bema judgment seat, but you’ll still be in His eternal kingdom.
- “Narrow is the way” to discipleship. Most believers won’t live fully for the Lord and exhibit those Christ-like characteristics in their day to day lives. But the ones who do, who are led by the Holy Spirit every day, they’re on that narrow path. The narrow path leads to wonderful rewards and glory in the kingdom with the Lord Jesus, but those on that broad way to destruction will be among the ones who have everything burned at the judgment seat. The circle that encompasses everyone with eternal life is truly big. Many, many people who you never suspect will receive Christ’s offer of everlasting life, but very few will be faithful until the end.
- Jesus gives us examples of the very strict rules for the people in His coming kingdom. In that kingdom, we’ll have glorified, incorruptible bodies. We’ll be incapable of sin. But the mortal, earthly people will indeed be capable of sin, and the Lord Jesus and His co-heirs rule the kingdom “with a rod of iron.” He will not tolerate inappropriate anger toward a brother in His kingdom. His rule is very strict. That Scripture does not apply today; it will apply in His coming kingdom. (And Gehenna should not be translated as hell.)
- If you become faithless, He remains faithful. He cannot deny Himself.
